STEM funding for schools

The aim of the bursary schemes is to enable young people from groups who are currently underrepresented in STEM professions to participate in STEM engagement programmes.

Please ensure that all students are encouraged to participate, not just those already interested in engineering and tech or other STEM careers. We are particularly keen for schools to include girls (at least 50% if possible), SEND students, students from minority ethnic backgrounds (particularly Black and Black British students), and free school meal recipients.

Bursaries can be spent on the following:

  • kit or an activity - for example, paying for a Neon experience; buying equipment or materials needed to deliver a Big Bang at School
  • travel - Neon bursaries can be spent on travel to an experience
  • staff – for example, teacher or technician cover
  • other – this can be specified in the application form

Please search your school name below to check your eligibility and apply for any bursary schemes to support you in involving young people in STEM engagement activities.
